Braves Overcome Odds To secure win
An outstanding team performance saw the ten men from Beverley beat Dockers.
On a hot Sunday morning and with eight players missing the ten man Beverley team knew they were in for a tough forty minutes but from the off it was obvious they were not going to let the numerical disadvantage effect them. Beverley started the game well and were immediately on the attack slick passing moves and strong aggressive running saw them march Dockers the full length of the pitch and whilst Dockers held out for a while Ryan Westerman went over for a try, which he also converted, after 10 minutes. This gave Beverley a boost at a time they were starting to tire and a second try followed when a great set, which again saw Beverley going the full length of the pitch, resulted in a try under the sticks for Joe Coates, converted by Ryan Westerman. HT Beverley 12 - Dockers 0.
Early in the second half a rare defensive error from Beverley allowed Dockers to score an unconverted try. There then followed a 10 minute period where Dockers camped in the Beverley half and threw everything at them. The Beverley defence though was outstanding and they kept Dockers out. As the second half wore on the threat from Dockers lessened and Beverley managed to gain some ground and were rewarded with a try when Ryan Westerman went over for his second try, again converting to give a final score of Beverley 18-Dockers 4.
This was an outstanding performance from the ten men who showed what can be achieved with the right attitude and commitment. The Man of the Match trophy went to all ten players; Joe Coates; Archie Harwood: Oliver Egan; Will Farr; Will Parkinson; Aaron Dibnah; Ryan Westerman; Sam Davis; Charlie Brown; Kian Brown
